Lately I have been getting lots of questions about my skincare routine and I have been hesitant to post about it because to be honest there are a LOT of steps to my skincare routine. I think if I ever decide to share the whole routine I’ll have to split it into a few posts. On top of my regular cleansers, serums, oils, and so on, I do regular facials, at-home microdermabrasion, micro-needling, and derma planing (all at home). Each one of those treatments could be its own post, so today I’m just sharing my every day (and every few days) routine with you, including a few of my favourite products. I hope you enjoy the read!
I am splitting the routine into 5 steps:
- Cleanser & Toner
- Serums
- Collagen/Elastin
- Moisturizer & Oils
- Boosters & Sunscreen
Cleanser & Toner
I have yet to find a cleanser that is my ride-or-die. I have tried everything from drugstore brands, Sephora brands, and even high end. I have liked Tatcha but didn’t love it enough for the price, so I tend to switch out my cleansers each time I run out. For now I am using a very affordable cleanser that I really like, Aveeno Clear Complexion foaming cleanser. Several YouTube beauty gurus recommended it over high-end brands in recent videos I’ve watched so I decided to try it out. It leaves your skin feeling clean but not dry, so I’m really loving it.
Before I cleanse my skin I always, ALWAYS use Face Halo. It is a microfibre makeup removing cloth/pad that works better than anything I have ever tried at removing makeup with only warm water. They are incredible and totally worth purchasing. They come in a pack of 3, you can wash them in with your laundry, and they’re really easy to travel with. Using these, I have completely eliminated buying makeup remover & makeup removal wipes. So much less waste and they work amazingly well! This is NOT sponsored, but I am obsessed with them and will never go back. These remove all of my makeup and then I follow with a cleanser and my FOREO Luna Play which feels so nice on the skin.
I immediately follow this with my Skoah toner, which tends to remove any remaining dirt and oil.
Serums

After my toner I apply my serums. I don’t have a photo of my SkinCeuticals C-Ferulic because I was almost out of it, but I like to always add a vitamin C serum first. This one absorbs into the skin quickly and is amazing for brightening. Following that, I add my “buffet” serum and “hyaluronic acid” serums from The Ordinary. If you haven’t tried anything by The Ordinary, you NEED to. They are medical grade products at completely affordable prices. These 3 serums are between $7 and $11 each and are the same formulas as incredibly high-end versions of the same. The third bottle pictured is a Hyaluronic Suspension which is a really concentrated serum that almost feels gritty but it does wonders for my skin. I only use that one at night because make up does not go over it well, and I only use it every 2-3 days when I feel like I need a little something extra.
Hyaluronic acid draws moisture to the skin and plumps it up. It gives you a fresh, plump look, helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and hydrates REALLY well. I know lots of people who use their HA as a moisturizer, even!
Collagen & Elastin

I purchased these Clayton Shagal collagen and elastin gel treatments from my facialist. They can be really pricey but I scored them on a day when they were 50% off and they have lasted me about 10 months! You only need a tiny amount of each, so they last forever. I apply the collagen at night and the elastin in the morning, following my serums. These improve skin tone, moisturize, brighten dark spots, boost healing, and reduce the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles.
Moisturizer & Oils

After collagen OR elastin (you only use one, depending on if it is morning or night), I apply my moisturizer. Of course, this step is 3-fold as well. I tried to keep it simple, but I do love taking care of my skin so I realize there are a lot of steps here but these products are ALL incredible. I love the Pixi Skintreats Rose Caviar Essence which is infused with natural botanicals and even has rose petals suspended in it. Its an extra layer of moisture and I always feel special when I use it. This one isn’t essential but it really feels like a treat! I follow this with my favourite moisturizer, Pixi Skintreats Rose Flash Balm. This moisturizer is thick and luxurious. My skin is NOT oily so I love the extra hydration this one provides, but it may not be great for those with oily skin.
Something new I have been doing is adding 2-3 drops of Bio-Oil to my moisturizer at night. Bio-Oil contains PurCellin Oil, which is a very fast absorbing oil and doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy. As you probably know, Bio-Oil also reduces scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, aging skin, and dehydrated skin. I had never thought about using it on my face before but again, I followed the advice of several beauty experts on YouTube and tried it – and LOVE it. I highly recommend trying it out!
Last in my moisturizers and oils routine, I’ve recently started using doTerra’s Immortelle oil on my “trouble spots” (meaning wrinkles, not blemishes). I have heard amazing things about it but haven’t been using it long enough to tell you how well it is working on me. I love the smell and feel of it and a little goes a long way for sure. I’ll update you soon! If you use it, please let me know what you think!
Boosters & Sunscreen

This intraceuticals collagen booster was given to me in a gift set from my local spa. It isn’t something I would normally think of or purchase but since I have it, I use it about once a week for an extra “boost”. It is basically a super concentrated collagen formula to give your skin an infusion of the good stuff. I really like the way my skin looks in the morning after I’ve applied it. This one again is a bonus step that isn’t necessary, but if you’re treating yourself, its a nice step to add once in a while!
FINALLY, my last step, is to apply a mineral sunscreen every day (morning only, obviously). This Coola Tinted Rose is my absolute favourite because it is a tinted sunscreen and has a natural bronze look to it that can substitute for foundation in the summer (it is like a CC cream and sunscreen in one)!
I hope you’ve found this post helpful. I’ll post again soon on some of my other treatments that I do weekly if you guys are interested. Le me know which one you are most interested in by commenting below or on my Instagram page!
I’m becoming a beauty junkie and I’m just loving this post! Love how you added the collagen elastin.
