With Halloween quickly approaching, we’ve been wanting to get to a pumpkin farm for a day of fun. We tried once but it was such a cold, blustery day, we ended up spending most of our time hiding away in the market and left within about 45 minutes. We were so happy to get a nice day on a Friday when Noah didn’t have school. I packed up some snacks, we bundled up well, and off we went!
I’ve never been to Downey’s Farm before. Personally, I really like smaller farms like Andrews Scenic Acres, but there is something to be said for the attractions at a big farm like Downey’s. It was only about 30-35 minutes from west Toronto, too! We could have easily spent an entire day there and the kids wouldn’t have run out of things to do. Noah is a few months shy of 4 years old and Georgia is 22 months old – there is no shortage of fun to be had for both of their ages (and of course for older kids as well).
We took a wagon ride around the farm, they climbed on a giant spider web, and collected leaves to craft with later. We watched the skeleton band play for 20 minutes and they probably would have stayed there even longer, but my kids’ favourite part of the day (and mine) was the “Kritter Korral” where goats, lambs, ducks, chickens, and even a llama roam freely amongst the children. They loved petting the animals and being able to see them and play with them without a cage between them. The animals seemed to enjoy it as well!
I had fun taking a million photographs of the kids, but don’t worry – I’ve only posted the best few here for you to see. If you get a chance to visit Downey’s, let me know what you think! Comment below or on my Instagram page and tell me some of your favourite pumpkin patches in the area!
