I’ve been casually using essential oils of a few different brands for several years. I’ve always liked them but have never fully committed because I never really felt that transformative experience that some people experience when they start using oils. I had always been interested in Young Living as a company but didn’t know enough to get started.
I have been slowly starting to detoxify our home for a long time now. I switched out my beauty and skincare to BeautyCounter products, and have slowly been switching out toxic, chemical-heavy products for clean ones over time. Even products that I had thought were fairly clean like Mrs. Meyers or Method, in this journey I have learned are totally toxic as well. I was using a lot of vinegar and baking soda to clean, and Thieves was something I have been curious about for a long time as well.
When I finally decided to purchase my starter kit from YL I just thought I’d give them a try, but I immediately became obsessed. Not only have the products allowed our family to switch out tons of toxic products from our home to safe, natural ones, but a few of the oils have really changed my day-to-day!
Let me expand on that…
Part of the reason that other oils have not been that effective for me is that there are almost NO regulations on essential oils. A company can claim a bottle of oil contains 100% pure essential oil but it only really has to contain maybe 5% of that oil, and the other 95% could be fillers, artificial fragrances, etc. How awful is that?
WELL, Young Living has what they call their “Seed to Seal” promise.
They own the only company in the world that owns their own farms and runs their own distilleries, which are located right on their farms. Basically, from the time the seed is planted until the time the bottle is sealed, the control every part of the process and ensure the quality control is the absolute best. They are also incredibly transparent and encourage people to visit their farms and distilleries to check out the process for themselves.
I believe that the other reason these oils have worked so well for me, is that they are 100% therapeutic grade. Different plants require different distillation times and you can often find oils that are only fragrance grade because they’re just not as high quality. The powerful benefits that therapeutic oils contain is simply missing from fragrance grade oils.
In short, I’ve had a really incredible experience with my YL oils and I am just passionate about sharing that experience with others. There have been a few oils in particular which have really been my “aha!” oils and have changed the way I have thought about them.
