I am so grateful that we made this decision for our family and I’m so excited about our journey that I want to share it with everyone!
When I first started out I found the website to be a little bit daunting and the process to “join” a little scary. It really ISN’T, so I’m going to explain to you how it all works and the step-by-step on how to get started.

The best way to get started is with a Starter Kit. It is the most economical choice because the starter kits are an INSANE value and you’ll receive 11 of the most popular oils, a diffuser (you can choose between 2), and a few other cool samples along with information on how to get started in using your oils.
In addition to what you’ll receive in the mail, you’ll get the support of myself and my team, and access to our Facebook groups which are chock full of information, answers to your questions, recipes, blends, and more.
How to get your premium starter kit:
- Sign up to become a YL member. The term “member” is scary to some, but it is basically the same thing as creating an account. There are NO monthly fees, monthly minimums, or requirements to purchase when you become a member… BUT, becoming a member gets you access to the starter kit (which is discounted by about 50%) and it also gives you lifetime access to wholesale pricing (which is 24% off all YL products)
- You can sign up here.
- There is also an option to sign up as retail customer – as retail you unfortunately do not have access to the starter kit, and you also don’t get the 24% discount. It is kind of silly to go the retail route since there are no commitments to becoming a member (aka creating an account)
- After signing up, you can select your premium starter kit!! There are a few different options – I love the desert mist diffuser, but you can choose whichever kit speaks to you! I actually purchased both the Desert Mist Premium kit AND the Healthy Home kit when I signed up because I was dying to try oils and a bunch of the Thieves products. You can’t go wrong – they’re all amazing.
- Next, you can just hang tight until your oils arrive in the mail. While you’re waiting, I’ll send you a detailed email with some info that you’ll want to look over and a few tips to get you started. You’ll also get access to our team’s exclusive Facebook groups and the network you’ll be a part of is absolutely amazing and so informative!
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SELL OILS TO BECOME A MEMBER!
When you sign up as a member, you are technically labelled as a Distributor and are able to sell oils should you want to, but you do not have to sell a single oil ever. Most Young Living members just purchase their products (usually through Essential Rewards). There are NO strings attached!
What Next?
- The best way to grow your collection and start making the switch to a non-toxic lifestyle is the incredible program called Essential Rewards. Think of it as your monthly wellness box. While being a YL member does not require any kind of monthly minimum/is not a subscription service, you do have the option to join ER, which is just that – a subscription service. If you love your starter kit and plan to continue to purchase Young Living oils & products, this is the best route to take because:
- You get the peace of mind knowing that everything you are purchasing is safe, clean, and toxin-free for you & your family
- For each ER order you place you rack up loyalty points (anywhere from 10-25%), which can be later used as cash for more YL products. This is the only way to get points back on your purchases.
- There are amazing promos each month, so when you place your monthly order to restock, you’ll get free oils and/or products in the mail as well!
- Everything comes straight to your door (with discounted shipping) which helps you avoid running around to Wal Mart, Whole Foods, the grocery store and pharmacy to stock up on the different household products you need.
- You get loyalty gifts along with your order when you hit 3, 6, 9, and 12 months.
- All you have to do to remain enrolled is place a 50PV order (PV=purchase volume, and is usually 1 PV:$1) each month. You can totally customize that to include a few oils, a few Thieves products, some all natural non-toxic makeup, a new diffuser, etc. It is a great way to grow your collection but also to gradually do the “ditch and switch” of toxic cleaning products and personal care products in your home.
