Welcome to my first blog post! I wasn’t sure where to start, but what better time than NOW and what better to write about than a fun day spent with family and friends? For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a wife (to my husband, Trey) and Mom (to 3.5 year old Noah and 21-month old Georgia). I grew up in the GTA (Aurora, Ontario, to be specific), but spent 12 years living in Vancouver. Our family recently returned to Toronto to be closer to family and we are sort of discovering/re-discovering the city, bit by bit.
To be honest, we haven’t done a whole lot of exploring yet. We moved back last July but didn’t move into our new home until December of last year. Since then it has been a bit of a whirlwind, but whenever we get the chance to do something fun, off we go!
With summer distinctly refusing to come to a close, and since my friend Christie was visiting from the UK, we decided to do something fun outdoors on the last weekend of September. So, we took a day and headed over to Centre Island to check enjoy the warm weather (even though I have to say I’ve been ready for the warm weather to give way to a nice, sweat-free fall).
I had been to Centre Island as a child, but I barely remember it. We hopped on a ferry (perhaps the biggest hit of the day), headed over, and had an amazing day. It was even more fun than I think we were expecting.
Trey, figured out that we could rent “quadricycles” which allowed he, Christie and I to ride and the kids to sit up front. This thing was so much fun! It had a fun bell to make sure people got out of our way – key detail – and a sun shade over it which was definitely a nice touch on a hot day. We went on a few rides in the park, ate sandwiches by the lake, and topped it all off with a big ice cream. The boat ride home was just as much of a hit with the kids as any other part of the day. We won a bunch of “awesome parent” points that day!
If you have a chance to get over there before the snow falls, do! It is a great way to spend the day.
