It’s no secret that I love to organize. Toy bins are great for the big stuff, but how do you organize the little things? I have a few favourite solutions for some of the every day little things: from hair accessories, to toys, to essential oils. I hope you find it helpful!
Tiny Toys
Do your kids love figurines? Princesses, Hatchimals, LOL Surprise dolls, tiny animals, etc? These sectioned storage bins for crafting make the perfect storage for little collections. I have a few from Dollarama and some from Michaels. You can even get tiered organizers with double-layered storage if your kids have an extra-large collection of little toys.

Lego
If you have the space, this LEGO storage idea has been a lifesaver for us! I purchased clear organizers from the dollar store and put them into Noah’s under bed storage drawers. We keep the LEGO pieces organized by colour and all of the instruction booklets together in one place. He’s able to build anything he wants and this makes it really easy to find the pieces he needs.
Hair Kit
When we get ready in the morning we don’t always get hair done before coming downstairs for breakfast. I keep this little organizer in the family room built-ins for those last-minute, out-the-door hair ‘dos! It has elastics, scrunchies, a couple of bows, a detangling spray and a brush. This little bin was another one from Michaels.
Speaking of hair accessories, when we travel I keep a bunch of hair elastics on a mini carabiner to keep them from getting lost in the luggage or in a deep organizer bag.

Small Stuffed Animals
Our family is overrun with stuffed animals but its the one thing my kids play with DAILY and each day they play with someone new. We constantly declutter them but even doing that we are stuck with a ton. The bigger animals go into big hampers and baskets but I love using smaller ones around the room for the smaller stuffies. This little bunny basket (from HomeSense, where else?) fits right into Georgia’s nightstand and hides away the clutter. Bonus: if your basket is extra full, throw a cute blanket, folded, on top and you won’t be able to see inside!
Laundry supplies
The laundry room can be a dark, daunting place. As Moms, we probably spend a ton of time in there and I believe that keeping it as light, bright and organized as possible makes it feel much more calming and enjoyable. In my home, the laundry room is actually one of my favourite rooms in the house!
I use bins, vases, and baskets to contain mess. I transfer laundry detergent into pretty glass jars and I use nice stainless steel scoops for my powders. For smaller storage, I use a pretty pearlescent white vase that I’ve had for many years to store a few bottles of essential oils that I use to drop onto our wool laundry balls when drying towels and sheets (I hang dry our clothing).
I also use a beautiful gold canister from HomeSense to contain the dryer balls and keep them within arm’s reach. Using trays and baskets to corral things together always makes it look more organized.
Diaper Storage
We have little diaper changing stations in the nursery, our master bedroom, and also in the family room. This makes things easier throughout the day so that I don’t have to run upstairs every time Sloane needs a diaper change. I found this caddy on amazon and I store wipes, diapers, diaper cream, lotions, boogie wipes, and more in it! I have a few portable change pads tucked into the side for couch changes, and lots of other little things we might need throughout the day.
This helps keep the diapers organized and handy, while still looking cute – and the caddy is portable so we can carry it into different rooms or even into the basement playroom if we are playing down there.
I could talk about organizing all day, every day! I’ve been wanting to write a blog post on some of my tips but its a big topic. I felt like starting small was the way to go and I hope that you enjoyed these tips for small storage and organization.
