For my first post of 2019 I thought these freezer smoothie packs would be perfect (and you guys seemed to agree, according to my Instagram poll). They are a quick and easy way to prep smoothies ahead of time which makes your life easier and also helps keep you healthy! I am not big on New Year’s resolutions, or crash diets at any time, but smoothies are packed with nutrients, protein, fibre, and all kinds of goodies – they make a great snack or meal, and I promise you it won’t take you more than 10-15 minutes to prep your smoothies for the whole week!
We no longer use plastic tupperware wherever possible in our home so I have a set of 4 Glass Lock containers from amazon that worked perfectly for this. You could use large ziplock bags or any kind of plastic container the you have to prep these.
All you need are some fresh (or frozen) fruits and veggies, your preferred supplements, and some extras like chia or flax seeds, and you’re all set.
First, I prepped the freezer portion. In mine I used:
- 1 banana
- 1 cup fresh spinach
- pomegranate arils (2 tbsp approximately)
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- frozen raspberries
- frozen mango chunks
- frozen blueberries
- a couple of dates
Just fill your container up with whatever ingredients you like. Other good options are:
- fresh ginger chunk
- lemon or lime
- any kind of frozen fruit (pineapple is a favourite in our house)
I find it helpful to go to the grocery/Costco, get a few big bags of assorted frozen fruit, and split it up into freezer packs right away, storing the excess in our deep freezer.

Once the freezer packs are ready, they can go into the freezer and you can prep your ‘powder packs’. In these, I put several ingredients. You can pick and choose what works for you, add and remove as you’d like. The important thing to note is that you’ll be adding 1 powder pack to the blender for each freezer pack you’ve prepared so keep your proportions in mind as well as the number of packets you prepare. In my powder packs are:
- powdered peanut butter
- vegan protein powder
- pure marine collagen
- 1/4 cup of oats (fills you up and gives you energy!)
Another good ingredient that we often add (but not this time) is unsweetened raw organic cocoa powder. If you have picky kids, add even a tbsp of this and they’ll be SURE to drink it!

Once you’ve filled them up with whatever you like, seal up your bags and keep them in a cupboard or in your pantry for when you need them!

When its time for a smoothie, put your freezer pack and your powder pack into the blender with coconut water, almond milk, water, juice, whatever you prefer, and blend up! Since more than half the ingredients are frozen, you won’t need ice, which just ends up watering down the smoothie anyway.
Enjoy! Tag me on Instagram if you make these, so I can see what you come up with!
