Books to Open the Discussion of Racism with your Children

This is such an important time in history. We all have to do our part to make sure that we are raising kind human beings. I have compiled a (certainly not exhaustive) list of some books that may help spark some discussion with your children about diversity, empathy, racism, and history. I hope this list is helpful to you not only this week, but in years to come. Let’s not let this week be forgotten when the protests are over.

  1. If You Were a Kid During the Civil Rights Movement
  2. I am Rosa Parks
  3. I am Martin Luther King Jr.
  4. Why am I me?
  5. Pete the Cat and the New Guy
  6. I Am Truly
  7. I Am Human: A Book of Diversity
  8. Rain Boy
  9. The Big Umbrella
  10. You, Me & Empathy
  11. Living in… Around the World Collection

Wishing you all nothing but love. Stay safe and healthy during this difficult time.
